Abstract

Background: Preterm Premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is the rupture of the membranes that encapsulate the amniotic fluid and the fetus before delivery, resulting in the amniotic fluid draining through the vagina. PPROM affects between 20% and 36% of all pregnancies. Objective: The aim of the current study was to assess the significance of the platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in PPROM.
Patients and methods: A case control study was conducted on 70 women between 2020 and 2022 at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Menufia University in Shebin Elkom, Egypt, and the Ministry of Health Hospital in Ashmoun, Egypt. Results: According to our findings, the optimal cutoff value for detecting PPROM for NLR was 4.658, with a sensitivity of 97% and a specificity of 29% at an AUC of 0.955. PLR's cutoff value was 133.415, with a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 98% at an AUC of 0.663.
Conclusion: NLR and PLR values in the PPROM group are considerably greater than in healthy controls.
