Background: to date Toric intraocular lenses (IOLs) have reported to be an effective method to reducepre existing refractive corneal astigmatism and so spectacle independence following cataract surgery. Aim of the Work: wasto evaluate the visual and refractive outcomes and the rotational stability of the EnvistaToric Intraocular Lens after cataract surgery in patients with pre-existing corneal astigmatism. Patients and Methods: this study included 20 Eyes of 20 patients submitted to cataract surgery with pre-existing corneal astigmatism of 1.50 D. or moreat Al-Hussein University Hospital and Nour Al-Hayah Eye Hospital between July 2017 and August 2018 that were implanted with EnvistaToric Intraocular Lens after phacoemulsification surgery
Results:Using toric IOL to correct corneal astigmatism is a relatively new surgical choice in patients with a cataract and previous corneal astigmatism. After three months post operative, UCVA(Decimal), BCVA(Decimal) and Rotation(degrees) were: 0.5_1 (0.81±0.14), 0.9_1 (0.97±0.05) and 0_7 (2.75±1.65) respectively
Conclusion: It could be concluded that Toric IOL implantation was a successful surgical forcorrection of astigmatism and cataractwithout affecting corneal integrity.
